It was Maine Day in Charlotte, North Carolina when the NBA's Bobcats played the Philadelphia 76ers in a pre-season game. UMaine Farmington grad Steve Clifford coached his Charlotte team to a 110-84 win over South Portland's Brett Brown and his 76ers.

Clifford and Brown were long time assistant coaches in the NBA and got their chance to be head coaches in the off-season. Clifford left the Lakers for the Charlotte job. Brown left the San Antonio Spurs.

The pre-season game Thursday was played mid-day as thousands of Charlotte area middle school kids attended the game as part of a field trip.

Kemba Walker and Ben Gordon combined to scored 35 points for Clifford's team in the 110-84 Bobcats win.
