The University of Maine baseball team split an out of conference double header with the Rhode Island Rams on Tuesday afternoon.
The Black Bears lost the first game of the set by a score of 6-4 in 10 innings. Maine jumped out early on in the contest with two runs in the second inning before giving up that lead in the next frame with a four run Ram inning on offense. The Black Bears returned to the plate to even up the scoring at four and that was the last run that would come across in the contest until the top of the 10th inning. Connor Johnson was charged with the loss in relief, going 3.2 innings pitched and allowing two earned runs. Four Black Bears batted in a run in the game, and Colin Ridley led the way with a 2 for 5 afternoon from the plate.
