College Football: Colby, MMA Lose
Tough day all around for Maine college football teams. Jack Cosgrove's Colby team lost in his debut as head coach and Maine Maritime Academy could not wrestle the Admiral's Cup from Mass Maritime.
Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts: The 46th Admiral's Cup game goes to Mass Maritime over Maine Maritime 22-7. The Buccaneers led 13-0 in the third quarter before the Mariners got on the scoreboard. A Bailey Sawyer to Dominic Casale 10-yard pass for a TD. turned out to be the only score for MMA. The Mariners drop to 0-2 while Mass Maritime is now 1-1.
Waterville, Maine: Jack Cosgrove's first game as Colby College coach did go the way folks on Mayflower Hill wanted. Trinity College came in a whacked the Mules 35-0.
Elsewhere in the NESCAC, Williams beat Bowdoin College 41-6 and Amherst beat Bates College 19-7.
NOTE: the University of New England Nor'easters were scheduled to play Hampton-Sydney College in Virgina. The game was cancelled because of weather issues relating to Hurricane Florence.
