With opening night looming on Saturday evening, UMaine football coach Jack Cosgrove says sophomore Dan Collins has won the starting quarterback job, beating out freshman Drew Belcher.

Cosgrove revealed his decision on his weekly radio show last night..

Collins appeared in two games last year for the Bears, completing four of six passes.

Belcher, a true freshman from Massachusetts, pushed Collins throughout training camp.

The Bears play their season opener  at home Saturday night a 6pm against Norkfolk State. A bye week follows the opener and then three consecutive road games.
