Fransoso, Lawrence, Trimper Receive Awards

   The UMaine baseball team picked-up significant hardware heading into the America East Tournament at the conference banquet.Shortstop Mike Fransoso became the fourth UMaine player to be named America East Player of the Year after hitting .356 on the season with 41 runs scored and 45 RBI.

Starting pitcher Tommy Lawrence was the unanimous selection as Pitcher of the Year. Lawrence went 9-3 with an earned run average of 2.59 while striking out 67. Lawrence needs one more win to tie the school record for wins in a season.

For the first time in his eight seasons at Maine, Coach Steve Trimper was selected as the America East Coach of the Year. The Bears are 34-20 going into the tournamnet which is one win shy of his career high at UMaine.

Eric White and Mike Connolly joined Fransoso and Lawrence on the first team all-conference team.
