Hermon,Houlton Win PVC Golf Titles

Colby Snell from Foxcroft Academy and Jenna Hallett from Presque Isle won individual golf honors at the Penobscot Valley Conference championship played at Jato Highlands in Lincoln. PVC team competition winners were Hermon in Class B and Houlton in Class C.

18 schools from eastern Maine competed in this state qualifier. In total, 7 teams earned spots in next month's team state championship.15 boys and 9 girls also qualified for the state individual championship - also to be played next month.

Teams in Class B: Presque Isle, Hermon, John Bapst

Teams in Class C: Houlton, Geo Stevens Academy, and Mattanawcook Academy

Colby Snell (Foxcroft Academy) shot a 2-over par 74 to win the boys division.

Jenna Hallett (Presque Isle) shot an 89 - from the boys tees - to win the girls division.

State title events take place at the Natanis GC in Vassalboro In October.
