For the USM Huskies baseball team, the road back to the Division-3 College World Series starts today with an opening round game in the LIttle East Conference Tournament.

This year the LEC tourney is hosted by #1 seed Eastern Conn State in Mansfield, Connecticut. USM lost a doubleheader with ECSU on the final day of conference play for the right to be the top seed.

So the #2 Huskies play #5 Plymouth State to start the 6-team double elimination tournament. The winner get the automatic bid to a NCAA regional.

USM is 28-10 and ranked #9 in the national D3 weekly poll. It is possible the Huskies could get an at-large regional bid if they don't win the LEC tournament.

A year ago, Ed Flaherty's team made it all the way to the national championship game at the CWS in Wisconsin.
