The Boston Bruins opened the new season with an exciting 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers as Chris Kelly scored the game winner with just under two minutes to play in the game.Kelly was in the right place at the right time when Adam McQuaid's slap shot from the blue line was saved by Steve Mason but left the rebound in front where Kelly was positioned. With a defender on him, Kelly was able the flip the puck past Mason for the game winner.

The Bruins took the early lead as Reilly Smith scored 10:39 into the first period. That score stood until Sean Couturier tied it up early in the third period.

Tuukka Rask needed to make just 19 saves as the game was played mostly in the Flyers defensive end where the Bruins fired 33 shots on Mason.

After the win Boston jumped on a flight to Detroit where they play the Red Wings tonight.
