The Bangor HS golf team, led by Rye and Drew Powell, has advanced to the state high school team golf championship to be played Saturday. The Rams were one of five KVAC teams to qualify for states.

Rye Powell shot a 79, his brother Drew fired an 82 - both also qualified for the state individual golf championship in two weeks.

KVAC (Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference) Class A qualifiers: Bangor, Edward Little, Skowhegan, Brunswick and Oxford Hills.

KVAC Class B qualifiers: Camden Hills, Erskine Academy, MCI, Lincoln Academy and Maranacook.

Two weeks ago, the PVC (Penobscot Valley Conference) held its qualifer for Class B and C. Hermon, Presque Isle, John Bapst, Houlton, Mattanawcook Academy and George Stevens Academy advanced to the state tournament.

The state team championship for Class A,B and C is Saturday at Natanis GC in Vassalboro. The individual golf championship tournament is October 19th at Natanis.
