MDI Girls Beat WA 45-23

The MDI Girls started off the 2012-2013 basketball season on the right foot with a 45-23 victory over the Washington Academy Raiders on Friday, Dec. 7, in a game heard on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio.

Led by Senior Emily Lewis, the McDonald's Player of the Game, the Trojans played inspired defense, especially in the 2nd Quarter, when they limited Washington Academy to just one point, and outscored WA 14-1. WA had the lead after the 1st Quarter, 10-9. Emily Lewis ended up with a game high 11 points for MDI.

MDI received solid contributions from the entire bench. Freshmen Kelsey Shaw, playing in her first varsity game scored 8 points, with 6 of them coming in the 2nd Quarter. Classmate Sierra Tapley scored her first 2 varsity points in the 4th Quarter.

The MDI Girls return to action on Tuesday December 11th, when they play host to the John Bapst Crusaders. That game will be heard on WDEA AM 1370 with the pregame starting at 6:40 PM
