The University of Maine hockey team scored a late third period goal to earn their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Alaska Anchorage at Alfond Arena.Eric Schurhamer's goal with just over four minutes to play put the Bears ahead 2-1 and turned out to be the game winning goal. Cam Brown added an empty netter with just 5 seconds left to cap the scoring and secure the win.

Matt Morris picked up the win in goal after stopping 33 of Alaska's 34 shots.

The Bears will go for the weekend sweep when the two teams get together Saturday night.
