David Ortiz had a memorable return to the Red Sox lineup on Saturday - with his bat and with his mouth.

During an emotional pre-game ceremony honoring first responders for their work during the Boston Marathon explosion and aftermath Big Papi took the microphone and told the crowd "This is our (expletive) city, and nobody is going to dictate our freedom; Stay strong."

The crowd roared its approval. Wonder what the FCC will think.

Later in the day, singer Neil Diamond, who showed up unannounced, led Fenway with his 8th inning classic "Sweet Caroline."

As for the game, Clay Buchholz pitched 8 terrific innings. Daniel Nava hit a 3-run home run late. The Sox beat Kansas City 4-3.

The Sox have won seven straight games. Their 12-4 record is best in the American League.
