PI Girls Beat MDI, 52 Game Win Streak

The Presque Isle girls basketball team win streak has reached 52 after beating MDI 58-56 in a battle of unbeatens in Eastern Maine Class B. Th Wildcats are 8-0 this season and have not lost a game since dropping a semi-final tournament game to Nokomis in 2011.

Saturday's game in Bar Harbor was a classic. Neither team could get a lead of more than six points and it was tied 45-45 after three quarters.

Junior Hannah Graham hit three foul shots in the final 16-seconds to get the Wildcats the win. She finished with a game high 25. Hannah Shaw had 22 for MDI (6-1).

Since that tourney loss in 2011, PI has had back-to-back 22-0 seasons and have won two gold basketballs.

The last regular season loss was in January of '11 to John Bapst.

PI and MDI will play again on January 25th, in Presque Isle. If the Wildcats win every game between now and then it would be a 59 game win streak at stake on that day.
