The Jato Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln hosts the Penobscot Valley Conference high school championship today. Teams from as far north as Fort Kent and as far downeast as Calais will try to earn the right to go to the state tournament.

The PVC includes Class B and C schools in eastern Maine. The number of 5-member teams that qualify for the states is dependent on how many schools are in a league (Aroostook, Downeast Athletic Conference). Golfers are also trying to qualify for individual championship play.

Schoolboy golfers must shoot at least an 80 to qualify for the state individual title. Schoolgirl golfers must shoot at least an 110 score to qualify for state individuals.

The KVAC league(Class A,B) will hold its team and individual qualify early next month.

The state team and individaul tournamenst will be at Natanis CC in Vassalboro October 12th and 19th.
