Baseball can be a cruel game at times. Just ask Chris Sale. Eight dominant innings of pitching by Red Sox lefty Chris Sale and yet he takes a loss 1-0 to the Chicago White Sox Friday night.

Sale, working on two extra days of rest, threw several pitches that were recorded at 100 mph or higher. He struck out 10 and walked one.

But in the 7th inning he gave up a leadoff bloop double and one batter later Trayce Thompson ripped a RBI single to score the game's only run. Thompson's batting average is .136.

Meanwhile, White Sox young starter, Dylan Covey, and the bullpen shut down the Sox offense. No Mookie Betts, no J.D. Martinez, no Sox offense Friday night. They team managed just three hits.

Sale loses for a third straight time.

The Sox are now 43-21 and face the White Sox again today. Live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket at 3:20pm.
