The Red Sox made one unearned run hold up all night and it meant a 1-0 win in Tampa Bay. The Sox improve to 9-5 and continue to hold down first place in the AL East.

The lone run came in the third inning on doubleplay attempt by the Rays. Mookie Betts slide hard into second base to cause a bad throw to first and Ryan Hannigan scored.

Wade Miley pitched 5.2 innings, giving up just three hits. But, when he walked back-to-back batters in the sixth, the bullpen took over.

Alexi Ogando, Robbie Ross Jr, Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara pieced things together to get the complete game shutout.
