A controversial call at homeplate and too many runners left on base cost the Red Sox in game one of the day-night doubleheader. Final score Tampa Bay 2 Boston 1.

The Sox appeared to have the tying run score on a double by David Ortiz but Dustin Pedroia was ruled out. The umpires went to the review and apparently it was called too close to change the out call.

That play, plus 11 Red Sox runners left on base cost the Sox. Jake Peavy was a tough luck loser, although the winning run was walked in by Peavy.
