A grant was approved in January allowing Eastport artist Anna Hepler to anchor her sculpture in downtown Bangor's waterway. The proposed prototype caused a stir among Bangor residents but the result is not what most expected.

The 47th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race starts Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. with hundreds of paddlers getting ready to race the 16 1/2 mile course with lots of flat water and some white water challenges as well.
