Maine native Oliver Wahlstrom has been added the USA World Juniors Team that is prepping for the upcoming World Championship Tournament in the Czech Republic.

The international event runs from December 26th to January 5th.

Walhstrom played for Team USA last year when the team won a silver medal. He had two goals and two assists in the seven game tourney.

Walhstrom plays for the AHL Bridgeport Sound team, the minor league team of the New York Islanders. He played in one game for the Isles earlier in the NHL season. He was the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NHL draft.

Walhstrom's father, Joakim, played for the UMaine Black Bears. Oliver played some of his high school hockey with North Yarmouth Academy before moving on to prep school.

NOTES: Team USA will play two pre-tournament games in the Czech Republic on December 22nd and 23rd. The first game of the tournament for the U.S. is on the the 26th vs Canada...Two Boston Bruins draftees are expected to be on the team, 2019 #1 pick John Beecher and 2018 4th round pick, Curtis Hall.
