The Boston Bruins lost to the Florida Panthers last night and in the process lost the ability to control their own destiny for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

A Jared McCann goal with 5:37 left in the game was the difference in this one.

The Panthers bolted out to a 2-0 lead in the first period but the Bruins came back to get the game tied 2-2 after two periods.

While Florida is trying to nail down a wildcard playoff spot, the Bruins are now 49-19-12.

The B's are tied with Tampa Bay for first place with 110 points in the standings with two game left.

But, the Lightning own the tiebreaker - they have more wins in regulation or overtime than the Bruins. So. if Tampa Bay wins out and Boston wins out, the Lightning get the #1 spot.

The Bruins play Ottawa and Florida over the weekend. The Lightning play Buffalo and Carolina.
