Patriots rookie offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn, the team's top pick in the draft, is out for the season after tearing his Achilles during Thursday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report.

Wynn, the 23rd overall pick in the draft, was carted to the locker room after hobbling off the field in the first quarter.

He was making his first appearance in a preseason game this summer and was playing right tackle, a new position for the Georgia product.

The 6-2, 310-pound lineman spent a brief time in the medical tent on the sideline before being carted to the locker room with his shoe and sock off.

The Patriots are fortunate to have some depth along the offensive line, with four starers returning from last season and the addition of Trent Brown, who was acquired in a trade with the 49ers during the offseason.
