The National Weather Service has expanded its winter storm watch advisory to southern Penobscot, Waldo and Knox counties.

On Saturday, the weather service issued a storm watch for Hancock and Washington counties, calling for between six and 10 inches of snow for the area Sunday night through Monday evening.

On Sunday, the weather service expanded that storm watch to southern Penobscot County -- including the cities of Bangor, Brewer, Old Town and Orono -- calling for five to eight inches of snow. The advisory also was extended to Knox and Waldo counties, where four to eight inches is expected with the highest accumulations around the Penobscot Bay.
