Simply put, the Red Sox threw away their first game on an 11-game roadtrip. Late night in Anaheim, the Sox lost 2-1 to the Angels on a bottom of the 9th throwing error by Hanley Ramirez.

The Sox were ahead 1-0 but reliever Brad Ziegler came on to close the game but instead allowed three straight hits to load the bases. Then with one out, Daniel Nava hit a chopper to first base, he threw home to start a game-ending double play. His throw sailed over catcher Sandy Leon and the tying and winning runs scored.

It all spoiled a great outing from David Price, eight scoreless innings, scattering seven singles, throwing 109 pitches.

Meanwhile, the Sox offense mustered just the one run on eight hits all night.

The Sox have lost four games in a row.
