Hampden Academy baseball senior Matt Palmer pitched a 1-hitter against defending state champ Messalonskee as the Broncos scored a 10-0 win. At the same time, Bangor was winning on the road at Brunswick 8-1.

At Bordick Park in Hampden Palmer struck out 12, walked one and gave up just a single to Jared Cunningham. Palmer also had two hits, scored two runs and drove in a run. His catcher, Pat Later, had a two RBI day. Hampden improves to 2-0. Messalonskee now 1-1.

Bangor is also 2-0 after the 8-1 win over the Brunswick Dragons.
