The Boston Bruins picked an 18-year-old defenseman from Finland with their first round pick in the NHL Draft Friday night. Urho Vaakanainen is considered a good skater and a 'pass first' defenseman.

Interestingly enough, his father coached a young goalie named Tuukka Rask years ago.

Vaakanainen is 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds.

Scouting Report (via NHL.com): NHL Director of European Scouting Goran Stubb: "Solid, safe defenseman. He was a regular with JYP in Finland's top league. Very good passer and playmaker with good understanding of the game. Not flashy, but effective."
