Colgate scored three times in the third period and beat the UMaine Black Bears 5-1 Saturday night. It means the two struggling teams split a weekend series.

The non-conference loss drops Maine to 5-12-4. Colgate is now 6-14-1.

The Raiders scored the game's first goal on a powerplay but when Maine's Dan Renouf scored early in the second period, the game was tied 1-1.

Who knew it would be the only goal of the night for the Black Bears.

Two minutes later, Colgate scored to regain the lead, 2-1. The Raiders put it away in the third with the three goals.

Maine goalie Matt Morris made 23 saves. Zac Hamilton made 28 for Colgate.

The Black Bears stay home for a Hockey East series against UConn next weekend.
