Former Black Bear Gets Boot In NY

The New York Rangers have fired coach John Tortorella, just days after losing to the Bruins in the semi-finals. Tortorella had one year left on his contract.

The Rangers reached the playoffs in four of his five years behind the bench but it never seemed to be enough for New York fans. His brash style was not a a winning style with many in the organization either.

Tortorella is a former Maine Black Bear player in the 1970's.
