Post 51 Wins Zone 1 On Walk-Off Hit

Jake Dexter ripped a base hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Post 51 from central Maine a 4-3 walk-off win over Bangor for the Legion Zone 1 title.

Post 51(18-5) had to win three straight games to capture the championship in the team's first year in Zone 1. The Coffee News(Bangor) team is now 15-7.

The Post 51 team trailed the Comrades 3-2 going into the ninth inning

Both teams advance to the state tournament starting on Wednesday in South Portland. Post 51 gets Zone 2 runner-up Tri-Town at 10:30am. Coffee News(Bangor) plays Zone 2 champ Bessy Motors at 3:30pm.

The Bronco-Hermon Junior League All Stars won the state championship beating Ellsworth 19-12, pounding out 18 hits in the title game.

Bronco-Hermon is from District 3. Ellsworth is from District 1.

The Bronco-Hermon  now heads to the Junior Division East regional tournament in New Jersey.
