Bangor pro Jesse Speirs will make the cut for a third straight PGA Tour event after shooting a 1-over par 72 in North Carolina Friday morning.

Halfway through the tourney, Speirs is 1-under par and should be good enough to make the cut (projected cut line is even) and play the final two rounds over the weekend.

His 1-under score puts him in 47th place, eight shots behind the leader.

After missing the cut in the first five events, Speirs has now made three cuts in a row. He is ranked 147th on the Tour and likely needs to get into the top 125 by the end of May in order to guarantee playing status for the rest of the tour season.
