New UMaine men's basketball coach Richard Barron put his team through its first official practice today and the media got a chance to check out the new-look and very much international team.

Along with Mainers such as junior Andrew Fleming and freshman Terion Moss, the team is comprised of players from all over the globe.

Players from Brazil, Sweden, Serbia, Canada, Taiwan, Latvia, England and Ukraine dot the roster.

Isaiah White and Fleming are the top two returning scorers. White averaged just over 11 points a game, Fleming averaged almost 10 per game.

Barron was hired back in March, replacing Bob Walsh, who's contract was not renewed. From 2011-2017 Barron coached the Black Bear women's team. He then took a leave of absence to deal with medical issues.

The team has already spent time together, taking part in international games in Costa Rica in August. The NCAA allows teams to take international trips every four years.

After playing an exhibition game vs UMaine Presque Isle on November 1st at the Cross Center, the Black Bears play their first countable game November 6th at the University of Denver.

There are several 'guaranteed money games' on the schedule, including games Utah, San Francisco, North Carolina State, among others.

NOTE: Check out more on new coach Richard Barron's plan for the Black Bear program on Thursday's 'Morning Pitch Show' at 6am on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
