The USA women's soccer team has clinched a spot in next year's World Cup Championship. A 3-0 win over Mexico in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Championship guarantees the U.S. team one of the three berths available for next year's world event. The World Cup will take place next summer in Canada.

The USA plays Costa Rica for the CONCACAF title on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the women's team from Trinidad & Tobago, featuring former UMaine Fort Kent goalkeeper Kimika Forbes, lost to Costa Rica in penalty kicks (3-0). That means Forbes and her team will need to win a third place game Sunday to secure the third and final spot in the World Cup.
