Longtime teacher and coach Clayton Blood has announced he is retiring as coach of the Brewer Witches and retiring from his teaching job at the end of the school year.

Blood coached the Witches to a 14-4 season and a No. 2 Class A North seed this past winter. He was named KVAC 'A' Coach of the Year.

Blood coached Brewer for one season in 2009 and then returned to coach the Witches in 2013. He has over 200 career wins from his time at Brewer, Hermon, Belfast and Mexico.

He has been a teacher at Brewer for the past 16 years.

In a press release, Brewer athletic director Dave Utterback said, "Clayton was a consummate teacher. He taught and coached every second of every game and you saw that passion in his classroom. His presence will be missed."
