The courting of Kevin Durant officially got underway for NBA franchises as the free agency period opened at midnight this morning.

The All-Star and former Most Valuable Player is said to be mulling his options of where he will sign between six teams, including Oklahoma City, Golden State, the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio, and Boston.  Durant met with the Thunder yesterday and is scheduled to sit down with representatives from Los Angeles and Golden State on Friday.  The big pitch from the Celtics’ brass will be on Saturday along with San Antonio.  Miami will get the final scheduled meeting with Durant on Sunday.

Other big potential free agent players who may be looking to move cities include Mike Conley, Al Hordford, Dwayne Wade, Hassan Whiteside, and Dwight Howard.  According to Las Vegas odds-makers, the Cs are the favorites to land Howard this off-season though ESPN’s Adam Himmelsbach reported that Boston will not pursue the center aggressively.

Boston also extended qualifying offers to both Tyler Zeller and Jared Sullinger in an effort to possibly resign both of the big men.
