Dave Dombrowski, the President of Baseball Operations with the Boston Red Sox, met with the media on Tuesday afternoon and reiterated his confidence in manager John Farrell.

Dombrowski said that Farrell would return to the helm of the Sox for the 2017 season and that the entire coaching staff would also be invited back for the next campaign.  Among the praise given to the manager by Dombrowski was the former's ability to get the most out of the team. The Sox were bounced from the playoffs after just three games by the Cleveland Indians as the loss on Monday night also marked the end of the career for David Ortiz.  Ortiz announced his intentions to retire last off-season after playing 20 seasons in the major leagues.  During the press conference, Dombrowski said that Ortiz could create any job title to be part of the Red Sox in his post-playing career.

Farrell just finished his sixth season as a manager and his fourth with Boston.  He has posted a 339-309 record during his tenure with the Sox, along with a championship in 2013.
