The New York Yankees beat the Red Sox 9-6 last night and moved into first place in the AL East.

A big time 8th inning for the Yanks was the difference in this one.

Leading by a run, the Sox brought in Matt Barnes to shut down the Yanks but he promptly gave up a double and a walk.

Then manager Alex Cora called on closer Craig Kimbrel. He promptly gave up a two-run triple to Brett Gardner and a two-run homer to Aaron Judge.

Game over.

The Yanks streak continues, winning 17 of their last 18 games.

They improve to 26-10. The Sox drop to 25-11

Game three of the series tonight.
