Maine's lone Olympian Russell Currier finished his Sochi Games competition with a 16th place finish as part of the biathlon team relay event. Russia won the gold medal in the event.

It was Currier's third event at the Olympics. The four man team relay is 4 x 7.5 km competition and Currier competed in the second leg of the relay.

Other members of Team USA included Lowell Bailey, Sean Doherty and Leif Nordgren. Their team time was 1:17:19, about five and a half minutes behind Russia.

Currier will stay abroad to compete in the World Cup events beginning in early March.
