In a game where each team held leads multiple times, the Detroit Tigers took the final lead and beat the Boston Red Sox 7-6.The biggest blow of the game came in the bottom of the 7th inning with Boston leading 6-5. That is when former Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez stepped to the plate and smashed a 2-run homer to right field putting the Tigers back on top for good.

David Ortiz had another big game collecting 3 hits including his 23rd home run and 3 rbi. When stepped to the plate for his first at-bat it was his 425th of the season which triggers a team option for next season that will pay the designated hitter $11 million dollars.

The two teams play the series finale this afternoon with rookie Henry Owens getting his second start of the season. His job will be a difficult one as he will be opposed by Justin Verlander of the Tigers.
