
Ramirez, E-Rod Lead Red Sox Past Yankees
Eduardo Rodriguez tossed 6.2 innings of two-run ball, Hanley Ramirez hit his 19th homerun of the season, and the Red Sox beat the first-place Yankees, 5-3.
E-Rod struck out a pair to earn his fifth win, surrendering just five hits and one walk to get his side back within 5.5 games of the AL East lead.
Ramirez scorched a two-run shot into Boston's bullpen in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and finished the game 2-for-4. Mookie Betts added a pair of hits, including an RBI triple which proved the game-winning run, while David Ortiz and Alejandro De Aza also recorded multi-hit performances.
Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-4 with a homerun and two runs scored at the top of New York's lineup and Alex Rodriguez hit a first-inning homerun for the second straight night.
Koji Uehara locked down his 22nd save with two k's in the ninth and Boston evened the series at one game a piece, with the rubber game Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.
