Red Sox rookie pitcher Henry Owens had a weird game against the Tampa Bay Rays last night. A 5-2 loss in a game that Owens mostly dominated.

Owens pitched 7.2 innings and had 20 swings and misses - that's a lot! At one point he had four consecutive 1-2-3 innings.

But, he ran into trouble inthe 8th inning when Rays rookie Mikie Mahtook blasted a two-run homer.

For the Sox, Travis Shaw had a three hit night. Mookie Betts had two hits and now has reached base safely in 25 straight games.

The Sox loss puts them back in the AL East basement by a half game.
