Red Sox manager Alex Cora said in a news conference Wednesday morning that one of the team's players is dealing with a "family emergency." A visibly shaken Cora offered no further details about the situation.

Cora compared it to what members of the media went through last week, when Boston Globe writer Nick Cafardo died after collapsing outside the team’s spring training clubhouse in Fort Myers, Fla.

Prior to Cora's news conference, the team cancelled media availability for the rest of the team.

Red Sox pitcher David Price tweeted Wednesday morning that "Through triumph, tragedy, and heartbreak this team/organization sticks together!!"
