Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez left Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a right ankle injury after colliding at first base with Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Rodriguez was covering the bag on a grounder played by first baseman Blake Swihart in the sixth inning.

Gurriel slid head-first into the bag. Rodriguez jumped over him but landed awkwardly on his right foot before tumbling to the ground.

Rodriguez was pulled from the game by manager Alex Cora after attempting a few practice pitches.

He tossed 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out five.

Rodriguez was replaced by Heath Hembree.
