Who knew a David Ortiz two run homer in the first inning would be the only runs the Red Sox would score Friday night? But it was enough to be the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 and give the Sox their 9th straight win.

The magic number clinch the AL East is reduced to four with eight games to play.

For Ortiz, it was home run number 37. He's hitting .319 with 124 RBI.

Drew Pomeranz pitched the first five innings giving up just one run. The bullpen did the rest.

The win was the 90th of the season for the Sox, now 90-64
