The West Coast swing continues not to be pleasant for the Sox as they lost the series opener with the Seattle Mariners and have lost three straight.

Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez surrendered four runs over 5.1 innings pitched and received his third loss on the year.  He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out two Ms batters.

The Mariners got things started with a Kyle Seager HR in the second inning and would add on two more runs to lead the contest early on by a score of 3-0.  Danny Valencia would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to secure the victory for Seattle.

Boston was able to produce just four hits in the contest and struck out a total of 12 times versus Seattle pitching.  James Paxton had 10 Ks in the outing, throwing seven scoreless innings during his start.

The Sox will get back at it against the Mariners tonight as Drew Pomeranz faces Felix Hernandez.  First pitch will be at 10:10 p.m. and Rafael Devers is slated to make his first MLB start in the contest.
