The Red Sox-Yankees rivalry was at a 'fever pitch' on this day 13 years ago.

Back in 2004, the season after the Aaron Boone home run in extra innings in Game Seven of the ALCS versus the Sox, tempers flared in the heat of the summer from Fenway Park.  Alex Rodriguez took exception to getting hit by a Bronson Arroyo pitch and started swearing at the Sox righty.  The Sox catcher Varitek stuck up for Arroyo and had the infamous shove to the face on the multi-million dollar man.

The shove turned into a benches clearing brawl and more players got involved including Curt Schilling, Kevin Millar, and Tanyon Sturtze.

The Sox would eventually go on to win the World Series after coming back from a 3-0 game hole in the ALCS over those same Yankees to claim their first World Series title since 1918.

Check out the video of the play below.  Do you think the Yanks/Sox rivalry will ever get back to this level again?
