7-time Cy Young Award winner Roger 'Rocket' Clemens landed in Bangor Saturday evening to talk baseball with Mainers.

The event was put on by Jeff Solari's Sports Chowdah, a division of Rock Lobster Media.

Clemens pitched for the Red Sox for 13 years before pitching for Toronto, the Yankees and then the Astros. He won seven Cy Young Awards, 354 career wins and 4,672 strikeouts.

He has not yet been voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame because of ties to steroid use.

When asked about that in Bangor Saturday night, he said he doesn't talk about that topic because he has no control over what happens with the voting.

Clemens told the audience that this was his first trip to Bangor but spoke fondly of spending golf time in Kennebunkport with President Bush at Maine summer home. Clemens and the Bush are Texans.
