UMaine football lost its home-away-from-home game in Portland Saturday afternoon. The 31-17 loss to Delaware likely ends any FCS playoff hopes.

Playing at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland in front of 7.200 fans, the Black Bears grabbed a 10-0 lead on a Brandon Briggs field goal and a TD pass play from Chris Ferguson to Micah Wright.

The game was tied 17-17 early in the 4th quarter when a punt return was fumbled by Wight at the four yard line and the Blue Hens scooped it up and scored.

Delaware added another TD and won it 31-17.

Josh Mack rushed for another 173 yards (FCS leading rusher). In fact, UMaine had more total yards than the Blue Hens 451-356.

The loss drops Maine to 3-4 in CAA play, 4-4 overall.

Next for the Bears, a game vs UMass at Fenway Park and then an Alfond Stadium game in Orono for Stony Brook.
