Former UMaine linebacker John Huard has been elected to the National College Football Hall of Fame. He becomes the first Maine player to be selected and will be inducted in December along with 13 other players.

Huard(Waterville) was an All Yankee Conference linebacker for the Black Bears and was part of the 1965 Tangerine Bowl team.

He was a 5th round draft pick of the Denver Broncos and played 4 years in the NFL.

Huard went on to coach the CFL Toronto Argonauts and in coached college football at Acadia U and Maine Maritime Academy.

Other former college greats to be inducted with Huard...LaDanian Tomlinson, Willie Roaf, Tony Boselli and Sterling Sharpe.
