Despite a loss to the Angels Wednesday night, Davis Ortiz became part of Red Sox history when he hit a homerun to lead off the third inning.The homerun was the 30th of the season for Big Papi which marks the eighth season that he has hit at least that many and ties him with Ted Williams for most 30 homerun seasons in Red Sox history.
Additionally, the homerun was the 461st of his career putting him one away from tying Jose Canseco for 34th on the all-time list. He also becomes the 13th player in major league history 38 years old or older to hit 30 or more home runs in a season.
