The Boston Bruins beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 last night and then caught a huge break. Tampa Bay lost to Carolina in overtime and that opens up the chance for the B's to finish in first place with a win tonight.

Simply put, any type of victory tonight against Florida - regulation, overtime or in a shootout will give the Bruins the top spot in their division and the Eastern Conference.

Tampa Bay finished its regular season 54-23-5 and 113 points. Boston is 50-19-12 and 112 points.

If they finish in first place, the Bruins play New Jersey in the #1 vs #8 matchup. If they finish in second place, the play Toronto in the #2 vs #3 matchup.

As for the game last night vs the Senators, after a slow start the Bruins scored three times in the second period on goals from David Pastrnak, Tommy Wingels and Danton Heinen.

The B's added third period goals from Noel Acciari and David Backes.

Anton Khudobin made 26 saves to get the win in net.
