In a match-up of two top teams in the NHL, the Boston Bruins forced overtime but in the end fell to the St. Louis Blues in a shootout 3-2.St. Louis took the lead with four minutes to play in the second period but Carl Soderberg tied the game up about 90 seconds later sending the teams into the second intermission knotted at two goals apiece. After a scoreless third period and overtime, the Blues were able to get the shootout win on a goal by Derek Roy.

The Bruins still hold the the lead in the Atlantic division by two points over the Lightning and will be back in action Saturday when they host the Carolina Hurricanes.
